The Goldfields Arts Centre Community Events Pavilion, located in Kalgoorlie, is a landmark project designed to support large-scale community events and conferences. Positioned over the existing carpark of the Goldfields Arts Centre—Kalgoorlie’s premier cultural venue—the pavilion responds to the City of Kalgoorlie Boulder’s need for a flexible, weather-protected space that can accommodate events such as the annual Diggers and Dealers mining investment forum, while retaining the carpark’s public use outside of event periods.
Ailtire Architects were engaged in 2023 to design the pavilion, developing a multipurpose venue that integrates seamlessly with the existing arts centre. The design features a striking double-curved roof structure, a clear height of approximately six metres, and an open-span layout without central supports. Electrically operated sectional doors allow the space to be enclosed during events, enhancing its versatility. Completion is scheduled for 2026.
Once complete, the pavilion will stand as an iconic structure within Kalgoorlie, enhancing the city’s cultural infrastructure and providing a durable, adaptable venue for civic and commercial use.
